About Caroline
Hello, I am Caroline Staples
I am the founder of The Nourish Nurse®, a nurse-led female health and wellbeing service dedicated to helping women feel heard, understood and supported throughout their hormonal transitions and wider female health journeys. I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over fifteen years of NHS experience, and I support women through perimenopause and through early, surgical and medical menopause.
Combining professional nursing experience, further education and personal insight, I am passionate about making women's health less confusing, less frightening and easier to talk about. My guiding belief is simple: women's health does not end when menopause ends.

In their words
Some of the most meaningful words I have received were not about a programme at all.
“I want to say thank you again for everything you did for me getting through a very difficult time. When I was struggling, you really made a difference. I feel like a completely different person to where I was before. I now live and work in the north of Scotland, the scariest and best decision I have ever made. After everything I have been through and come out the other side, I can honestly say Caroline’s support changed my life. I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

My story
Why I built The Nourish Nurse®
For twenty-five years I felt dismissed when I asked for help with my own female health. Appointments where I was not heard, symptoms explained away, and a steady sense that no one was really joining the dots.
Then, about ten years ago, someone finally listened. They found a 17.5cm mass on my ovary, and I had life-changing surgery that brought on surgical menopause almost overnight. After the surgery came another seven years of difficult, enduring health complications. I was exhausted, I did not recognise my own body, and the system had no clear answers for me.
So I went looking for them myself. I retrained in health coaching, with a diploma covering nutrition, gut health and female health, and added sleep training too, because rest is where so much of recovery begins. Slowly, I started to understand what had happened to me, and I began to rebuild my health.
Watching my two daughters experience their own female health challenges has strengthened my determination to make sure women have access to better information and support. The Nourish Nurse® is the support I wish I had been given. I now offer it to all women who think they are in the hormone transition. Guidance, evidence-based clinical education, and support to help this be a journey they do not dread. Education and support alongside your GP, never instead of them.
Lived Experience
At my heaviest, and at my saddest
I understand both the clinical evidence and what it feels like to struggle in your own body, and to feel dismissed for years before someone listened.

Rebuilding my health, step by step
After years of feeling dismissed, a 17.5cm mass on my ovary finally led to life-changing surgery and surgical menopause. What followed was seven years of difficult, enduring complications, and a body I did not recognise.
I retrained in health coaching, nutrition, gut health, female health and sleep, and slowly rebuilt my health and my life. Now I support other women through the same transition, so it does not have to be something they dread.
My nursing career
Fifteen years of listening, without judgement
Throughout my nursing career I have worked across a wide range of challenging settings. My work has been shaped by a commitment to listening without judgement, treating people with dignity, and standing up for those who are too unwell, frightened or vulnerable to advocate for themselves.
Forensic high-secure nursing
Working in some of the most challenging clinical settings, learning to listen without judgement and to stand up for people too unwell or vulnerable to advocate for themselves.
Offender health & A&E psychiatry
Supporting people in crisis with dignity and calm, holding clear boundaries alongside straight-talking honesty.
Armed Forces veterans
Five years supporting veterans living with military-attributable trauma, as part of a team recognised with an NHS Trust award for this work.
During the final five years of my full-time nursing career, I supported Armed Forces veterans living with military-attributable trauma, and was part of a team recognised with an NHS Trust award for its work supporting the mental health of veterans.

My wider mission
Challenging the silence around women's health
My work is underpinned by a wider mission to challenge the silence, shame and lack of understanding that have surrounded women's health for generations. I believe female health education should begin early, that men and families should be part of the conversation, and that women should be supported throughout their lives, from adolescence and reproductive health through perimenopause, menopause and beyond.
My message is not about encouraging women to diagnose themselves, but about helping them become informed and confident partners in decisions about their own healthcare. I want women to recognise when something may not be right, feel confident asking for answers, and know that they deserve to be heard.

How I work
Not everyone wants to talk about their journey alone
Not everyone understands medical or surgical menopause, and not everyone wants to talk about their journey on their own. I also support partners to understand the journey their loved one is going through. These appointments are not part of my standard offering yet, but they are available on request.
Partner support
Helping partners understand the hormone journey their loved one is on, so they can offer the right kind of support.
Couple appointments
Appointments for couples navigating the hormone journey together, with more support coming soon including couple workshops and a community membership.
Kind, empathetic and professional, I am also determined, courageous and unafraid to challenge attitudes or practices that leave women feeling dismissed. I describe myself as a leader rather than a dictator, bringing warmth and reassurance alongside clear boundaries and straight-talking honesty.
